When traveling around Central America, it is almost impossible to avoid being attracted by one of the richest and oldest culture vestige the Toltecs From Mexico left behind in Nicaragua The Chorotegas. This ancient tribe run away from Mexico looking for the "Nic - ahuac" place which was to be found near by a lake with two volcanoes on it. Finally, they were able to make their prophet's prophecy come true when they found the Lake Nicaragua and Ometepe Island, Island of two hills or volcanoes ( ometepetle ). It is believed that when the Spaniards settled down in Nicaragua, they tried to reach Ometepe Island which they did. Once on the island, one of the Spanish soldiers fell in love with the Indian chief's daughter, but when the Indian chief heard of this sacrilege sent the spanish soldiers away from the island. Not long after this happened, the Indigenous lover went after her lover who she never saw and started crying big drops which created the Lake Nicaragua and it is said that the two volcanoes are the Spanish Soldiers and Indian Chief Daughter.
